Jaime Thompson of IMS Health office in Bay Area will present the results of the latest IMS report on the U.S. use of medicines in 2010. Included in her talk will be a discussion of the convergence of key dynamics associated with diminished growth in drug spending, including the greater use of generics, loss of patent protection for many blockbuster drugs, slower demand and less spending on new therapies as well as fewer patient visits. The latter is believed to be a result of the economic downturn.
