Sanjeev Saxena
Sanjeev Saxena is the founder of POC Medical Systems, based in Livermore, CA. He has cofounded several Biotech and Medical device companies. His most recent and highly Acclaimed Venture Actis Biologics was based in India where he took a product from preclinical all the way to Phase 3 before stepping down as the CEO in 2011 and returning back to the US. He started his carrier as an engineer and moved into sales and marketing. He was also the recipient of the prestigious Udhog Lagu award and The European Science award and was nominated by Ernst and Young for the Entrepreneur of the year award in 2011 in India.

Point of Care is a reality today. However it hasn't yet been accepted and payers haven't been willing to pay as they pay for other tests. Hence, previous investors who invested money have lost their shirt on these investments - case in point Alera, Tethys etc.. Having said that, the amount of money poured into this segment has allowed for technology to be advanced significantly and is now ready for commercial launch at a fraction of the cost. In this talk, we will explore, what point of care technologies exist, their pros and cons and the market for the same and why investment in the same, today makes sense.
